Auto x 9/21

Did my first autocross. Super fun, but I have a lot to learn. Started out slow and got better each lap - but still slow. DNFed on lap 2 since I missed a cone. I learned quite a bit about my car and will be trying to turn that into faster times next month.

Part of the fun of this was seeing all of the other vehicles. Aside from the many MX-5s there was some pretty heavy metal and a ridiculously fast Tesla. The great thing about auto X is that you can run just about any car.

Yes, all of that fit in my trunk. VW R32 next to me. Big brother of my old GTI

The yellow car behind me is an old Ford station wagon. It was hilarious and fast.

Walking the course

I'm in the tent doing my work assignment. I got to be an "observer". That means you watch a car go around the course and report if they hit any cones or missed part of the course. Essentially backing up the reports from the folks on the course.

1954 Chevrolet pickup. Highly modified.

waiting my turn

BMW 325i - LS swapped. For those that don't know that means it had a GM V8 instead of a BMW straight 6 powering it. This thing was loud and nasty and turned the fastest times of the day, after breaking on the first 2 laps.

The course. Start on top right.

Nancy took videos of my runs, but they are too big to embed here, so I had to do links. She rode with me on lap 3, so no vid.
